Five-time Grammy Award winner Michael McDonald's legendary voice has been a fixture in American pop music for more than three decades. McDonald's style is unique in that he has successfully found a middle ground between soul and rock with songs like "Yah Mo B There" and "Baby Girl." His passion and talent as a musician began when he became a part of Steely Dan's touring band in the early 1970s. While working with Steely Dan, McDonald also joined the Doobie Brothers, where his voice became the group's focal point on such songs as "Takin' It to the Streets," "Minute by Minute," and, unforgettably, the number one single "What a Fool Believes" which he co-wrote with Kenny Loggins.
McDonald's most recent album, Soul Speak, is the follow-up to his two smash explorations of the Motown Records songbook, the platinum-selling Motown from 2003, and 2004′s Motown Two. Soul Speak includes three original songs by McDonald as well as a selection of favorites such as Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic," Ray Charles's "You Don't Know Me" and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."
Boz Scaggs got a kick start on his career as a member of the Steve Miller Band, but later gained considerable success as a solo artist in the 1970s. In 1976, the soulful singer/songwriter released Silk Degrees which became one of the landmark pop albums of the decade selling more than four million copies. Silk Degrees hit number two on the Billboard charts and featured the hit songs "Georgia," ‘What Can I Say," "Lido Shuffle," and the Grammy Award winning song "Low Down." Scaggs was successful in creating some of the era's most definitive tracks by melding together pop, R&B, New Orleans, blues and soul influences.
His most recent album Speak Low (2008) is a follow up to 2003′s Beautiful. Speak Low is a romantic album embodying Scaggs' signature smooth sound and sublime melody combined with his silky voice to add an emotional dimension to the album that is unlike any other.
